Tamarin Trust is very excited about returning to Brazil for the next Callitrichid Conservation and Husbandry Workshop that is taking place in Belem in May. We will be helping ICMBio (the Brazilian government agency for the environment) to run the workshop. Many thanks to Universeum, in Sweden, for co sponsoring the event.

There are two wonderful and little known callitrichid species in the region: the eastern black tamarin Saguinus ursulus, and the silvery marmoset Mico argentatus. We are hoping that participants will be able to catch a glimpse of one or both species in the wild during the workshop.
Bringing people together who work in callitrichid conservation, whether it be in the wild or captivity, is essential. Their shared experiences, failures and successes help build a stronger united effort to conserve these wonderful monkeys. Experts from government agencies, universities, zoos, NGOs and Europe and New Zealand will be coming together to strengthen the one plan approach to callitrichid conservation.
