We are very excited to launch our new scheme, Friends of Tamarin Trust. With a small monthly donation, you will enable us to expand our work in South America with tamarins and marmosets.

If you become a Friend, a portion of your donation each year will go towards the tree planting initiative we are supporting in the heart of the Amazon (read more here), to help cover the cost of taking a native tree seed from collection, through germination in the nursery, to planting out, and then monitoring to ensure that it is safely established. We will keep you up to date regularly on the progress of the scheme.

Tamarin Trust is supporting tree planting in Manaus, home of the pied tamarin. Professor Marcelo Gordo involves local communities in the process of seed collecting, germinating and nurturing native trees.

By becoming a Friend of Tamarin Trust, you will be supporting:

  • Rescue, rehabilitation and release into the wild of tamarins and marmosets
  • Tree planting and bridge building to restore and reconnect forest fragments, enabling monkeys to move freely again around their habitats
  • Capacity building in the monkeys’ home countries to care for them both in the wild and in captivity
  • Field research to locate and study the remaining wild populations, and equipment to monitor and support them.

We will keep you in touch with all our activities, and you will be able to attend future webinars by staff from Tamarin Trust and our partner organisations so you can see how your contribution is helping to save marmosets and tamarins from extinction.

Tamarins and marmosets face many problems in the wild. Click on the images below to find out more about how Tamarin Trust is helping:

We are helping build urgently needed rescue facilities for golden-headed lion tamarins as their forests are destroyed.
The Mountain Marmoset Conservation Centre is now breeding buffy tufted-ear marmosets regularly.
Pied tamarins are forced to cross urban areas to reach forest, so we are helping to build bridges.
Workshops bring together people working for the conservation of these wonderful monkeys.
Rehabilitation and release enclosures allow rescued monkeys to get ready to go back to the wild.
Essential equipment enables the Mountain Marmoset Conservation Programme to survey and rescue marmosets at risk.
We can draw on a pool of experts from conservation organisations worldwide to help us deliver training.
We work with national government such as the Brazilian agency IBAMA to develop and support conservation programmes.
